On September 16, 2025, the Hawaiʻi Marine Animal Response (HMAR) Care Center released its latest sea turtle patient back into the wild. This event marked an important milestone in the turtle's recovery, being the first hawksbill sea turtle patient released into the wild by HMAR.

HMAR is the only full-time sea turtle emergency care and rehabilitation care center on Oahu. The island bears the brunt "of the majority of sea turtle strandings in Hawaiʻi - about 75% of our state's total each year," stated HMAR on their website.

HPU is a proud project partner with HMAR. To learn more, go to www.h-mar-org

All sea turtles' activity conducted pursuant to 50CFR222.310,223.206,17.21,17.31 and all rehab was conducted under state permit SAP 2025-49 and Federal permit ES71614D.
