It’s time to dive into the national marine sanctuaries of the Pacific Islands Region at the new Pacific Islands Ocean Exploration Center. NOAA and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation have collaborated to create this Center, a vibrant space that brings to life the iconic marine ecosystems and cultural heritage of the nation’s underwater parks. Located on the ground floor of HPU's Aloha Tower Marketplace campus, the Center is free and open to the public.
The new Center serves as a dynamic hub for learning, connection, and discovery, showcasing the unique cultural and natural treasures of sanctuaries throughout the Pacific Islands Region. This marks the first public visitor facility established by NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries on Oʻahu, expanding a growing network that includes the Tauese P.F. Sunia Ocean Center in American Samoa, the Mokupāpapa Discovery Center in Hilo, the Sanctuary Visitor Center in Kīhei, and the Kaua‘i Ocean Discovery in Līhuʻe.
Each center offers a window into the extraordinary world beneath the waves, helping communities and visitors alike experience the beauty, history, and significance of these protected marine environments.
The Pacific Islands Ocean Exploration Center at Aloha Tower Marketplace is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (subject to occasional closures for meetings and events). For more information, call (808) 600-5552 or email pioec.manager@noaa.gov.
