The HPU Cybersecurity Team is continuing to advance initiatives that strengthen the University’s overall cybersecurity posture. The team’s work is aligned with established best practices and recognized standards, such as those provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Center for Internet Security (CIS). This ensures that the steps taken today contribute to larger, long-term goals for institutional resilience and protection, as well as new opportunities that may arise.
The HPU community regularly faces cybersecurity threats, such as phishing emails, malware, malicious connection attempts, and efforts to gain unauthorized access to accounts or systems. To safeguard university data and operations, the Cybersecurity Team enforces multi-factor authentication (MFA), conducts continuous monitoring and vulnerability scanning, strengthens endpoint protection, performs proactive penetration testing, and analyzes network activity in real time for suspicious behavior. These initiatives, much of which occur behind the scenes, are central to ensuring that academic and administrative services remain secure, reliable, and compliant.
Cybersecurity is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time project. The current focus is on implementing layered controls, enhancing monitoring capabilities, and aligning processes with regulatory and institutional requirements. This approach ensures measurable progress toward compliance objectives while maintaining the flexibility needed to adapt to the evolving risks and operational demands.
