Allan Mark Cariaga Polendey of Ewa Beach, Hawaiʻi, is dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities he serves. At HPU, Polendey holds the position of Vice President of the University Student Nursesʻ Association (SNA), and he is a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. His introduction to HPU came through fellow military service members, who had good things to say about HPUʻs Military Campus Programs.

Polendey’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing at HPU clinical experiences include rotations in various units, such as medical-surgical, post-anesthesia, critical care, and pediatrics, across three Oahu medical centers. To further enhance his hands-on healthcare experience, Polendey works part-time as a clinic aide at the Straub Benioff Medical Center.

On campus, Polendey and his fellow HPU SNA members engage with the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), volunteering as ambassadors and organizing outreach events to raise awareness and encourage donor registry participation. This fall semester, the SNA collaborated with HPUʻs Undergraduate Infrastructure Student Research Center to host a Blood Bank of Hawaii and NMDP campus drive.

Polendey is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau national honor society, representing his dedication to academic achievement, leadership development, and the advancement of the nursing profession.

Looking forward to leveraging his education and experiences to pursue a career in nursing, Polendey aims to continue making meaningful contributions to patient care and community health.
