Healthy Climate Communities collaborates with the Hawaii State Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), local schools, and other community groups to restore the watershed for the Hāmākua Wildlife Sanctuary and the adjacent Pu’u o Ehu Hillside. Since 2015, they have planted thousands of native and endemic plants, including many that are threatened or endangered. Caring for these native plants is a challenging task made possible by the many volunteers who offer their stewardship.
Volunteers are invited to join every Monday from 4 PM to 6 PM. It's a great way to start the week, make friends, and enjoy the outdoors!
Volunteers are asked to bring water, closed-toed shoes, and comfortable clothes. Tools will be provided, and a one-time waiver is required.
Note: Community events are shared for awareness but are not necessarily sponsored or endorsed by HPU.
Target Audience:
- Families
- Faculty/Staff
