Multimedia Content Specialist
Job Summary
This is a part-time student worker position. The Multimedia Content Specialist is responsible for developing content for social media and other digital campaigns that engage audiences. Using visual imagery from video and photography to infographics and other digital content, this role tells the University’s stories of student and alumni achievements, faculty research and accomplishments, and other interesting narratives. Reporting to HPU’s Director of Marketing, this role creates storylines and is assigned storylines that need to be turned from an idea to a digital asset that can be leveraged in the University’s marketing communications and outreach initiatives. We are seeking candidates with photography or video experience; it is not necessary to have both photo and video experience for this position.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Videography and/or photography skills
- Photo and/or video editing experience
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Ability to periodically cover evening and weekend events
- Excellent time and resource management skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong understanding and use of different social media applications
- Ability to develop and present ideas and concepts
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the production cycle (30% of total job)
- Pre-production: Conceptualize and plan photo/video projects. Help coordinate production schedules.
- Production: Work with the creative services / multimedia team to shoot in-house photo/video content.
- Post-production: Create polished photo/video edits, including color correction.
- Event coverage: Capture multimedia coverage of campus, student, faculty, and staff event as needed, including in-the-moment social posts.
Media management (30%)
- Process raw files/footage and archive (locally and cloud-based) for future use
- Create transcripts of video interviews for future integrated marketing use, including pull quotes, print collateral, etc.
- Manage cloud library of multimedia assets including music library, motion graphics templates, and other branded digital assets
Cross-functional collaboration (30%)
- Identify opportunities for new multimedia content that supports and furthers institutional strategies
- Develop and implement strategies to amplify reach of multimedia content across owned channels
- Collaborate with web and social media account stakeholders on video content optimized for various social channels
- Collaborate with social media stakeholders and Creative Services team to create branded social media graphics in Canva
- Assist in the management of HPU’s YouTube and other video-first channels, including scheduling, copywriting, SEO, content strategy, and analytics
