Ms. Karr has over a decade of combined experience in clinical practice and academia. Her clinical experience includes women’s health, family medicine, behavioral medicine, addiction medicine and emergency medicine. Currently, she practices clinically as a PA in emergency medicine with Hawaii Emergency Physicians Associated, serving West Hawaii Island at Queens North Hawaii Community Hospital and Kona Community Hospital. She additionally provides coverage clinically for a residential substance use disorder treatment facility with Hawaii Island Recovery in Kona, Hawaii.
Ms. Karr has experience in PA education, previously serving as PA faculty and Assistant Teaching Professor at The University of Washington MEDEX NW Kona Campus Physician Assistant Program. During this time, she was an original faculty member on a grant project with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) as a certified instructor with the Providers Clinical Support System – Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (PCSS-MOUD), providing 8-Hour DEA training to physician assistant students as part of the required curriculum during the educational didactic phase of the program.
Ms. Karr is a member of the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA), the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) and the Hawaii Academy of Physician Assistants (HAPA). She is a Colorado native and maintains licensure for PA clinical practice in Colorado as well as Hawaii.
Margot currently resides on Big Island in Kona. She was a competitive gymnast, loves the sport of gymnastics and credits it with instilling not only a strong foundation for physical activity, nutrition and health as principal considerations for wellness in her life today, but also for imparting tenacity and grit as guiding personal character assets. She is a self-proclaimed cat lady, grateful for the joy brought into her life by her family cats, Otter and Ho’ola. She enjoys spending her time outside near the mountains or in the ocean, gardening, snowboarding, traveling, sewing, baking and spending time with her family and friends.
